Business Operations Director

This position works as a member of leadership with responsibility for the finance, information technology, legal, human resources, facilities and building project areas of The Crossing.  Works collaboratively with the pastors to value, manage and steward with excellence our people, our financial resources and our facilities.

General

  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team to manage our people, our facilities and our financial resources working through our financial, human resource and facilities teams and processes and procedures

  • Manage the financial processes, including budgeting, cash management and reserves, mission fund management, accounting and reporting

  • Work with the Elder Team by communicating financial status, providing financial information and making recommendations to support them as they make key financial and capital decisions

  • Supervise the Business Office and the operations of that department, including tithe/revenue management, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger and benefits administration

  • Manage any capital campaign processes as required to make key capital improvements to our campus

  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Pastor to establish and manage annual budgets in line with the church’s available resources and participate with leadership in the development of strategic goals for the church that impact the financial area

  • Supervise the Human Resources area, including developing/applying human resource policies, assisting in hiring candidates for various positions, managing performance and compensation processes, and coordinating benefits

  • Oversee capital improvements and facilities management, including supervision of the Facilities Manager

  • Manage significant construction projects, in conjunction with developers, general contractors, and the Facilities Manager

  • Oversee information technology area, including application implementation and management, workstation management, network infrastructure and security, and supervise any IT staff and/or IT contract staff

  • Manage legal issues as they arise, working in conjunction with the Executive Pastor and our attorneys as necessary

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Agreement with The Crossing Church’s Statement of Faith and commitment to live by the Leadership Guidelines and personnel policies and procedures

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of financial management in a growing church setting, including experience with P&L’s and Balance Sheets

  • Prior experience in the role of Business Operations Director

  • Strong organizational and administrative abilities

  • Prefer experience with human resource operations and/or IT management and/or legal interfaces with outside attorneys

  • Interpersonal skills that enable effective collaboration with ministry leaders and staff

  • Prefer experience in construction and capital improvement projects

Educational Background

A bachelor's degree (required) with significant course work in accounting and/or business from an accredited university supported by experience in business operations. Please provide resume and references.

Work Schedule

Generally work five days a week (Sun, Mon – Thur or Tues – Fri), with other times related to special events.  Anticipate 40+ hours a week, depending on tasks.
