Children’s Ministry Assistant
Assists the Children’s Pastor in the daily flow of all childcare needs as well as curriculum creation and development for children’s ministries, leading and scheduling a team of individuals (both paid staff and volunteer base), as well as lead and direct a creative team for theatrical set changes. Responsibilities include:
Assist scheduling children’s workers, leading/coordinating volunteers, preparing for Children’s Ministries meetings
Maintaining, updating, and retrieving the information from the congregational database system
Maintaining spreadsheets and journal logs to ensure that they are compliant with accepted policies and practices of The Crossing Church’s children’s ministries procedures
Show care and Christian concern for parents, ministry partners, and children on the telephone, in the office, and at church
Assist/support with a wide variety of clerical/administrative and/or classroom needs, as well as maintain office supplies
Assist/attend Special Events, KZ Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday Night service, Elementary Summer Camp (if needed). Support large projects or events, such as: Elementary Camp and Vacation Bible School as needed.
Assist in updating Social media for the Children’s Ministries and maintain the department’s website
Manage the publication of department documentation, and information displays/signs, as requested. General copying and filing for the department and other ministry departments as requested
Specific Responsibilities For Children’s Pastor
Manage appointments and travel arrangements for the Children’s Pastor and staff, as needed
Attend meetings/events when necessary to provide administrative support
Monitor incoming telephone calls
Maintain confidential documentation, using discretion and discernment at all times
Liaison for Children’s Pastor with Children’s Ministries staff, team, and church staff ensuring the department’s classroom/building and other needs are met
Essential Skills and Abilities
Agreement with The Crossing Church’s Statement of Faith and commitment to live by the Leadership Honor Code and personnel policies and procedures
Eagerness and demonstrated effectiveness in working with children
Knowledge in teaching and childcare procedures
Strong administrative and organizational skills, capable of handling large volumes of information accurately with good understanding of storage and retrieval methods
Clear ability to follow procedures, attention to detail, and prioritize work to ensure that it is completed within timelines
Values and demonstrates good team work skills
Proficiency with PC’s, Word, Excel, Power Point is essential.
Familiarity with website maintenance, graphic creation, and video creation and editing preferred
A high school diploma (required) and/or a bachelor's degree (preferred) from an accredited university supported by experience in childcare, education, or creative arts. Please provide resume and references.
Generally work five days a week (Sun, Tues – Fri), with other times related to special events. Anticipate 40 hours a week, depending on tasks.
